Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking an HR Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration and training. The role partners with HR leaders to ensure processes are completed efficiently within set timeframes and uphold the employee experience, confidentiality, and compliance.

The position requires strong judgement, discretion, and the ability to balance operational needs with staff experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• 1–3+ years of administrative HR experience are preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Discretion with confidential information and strong judgement are essential.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day HR operations across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits and training.
• Prepare and maintain HR documents, benefits information and training materials.
• Support talent acquisition processes: posting openings, screening resumes, offers, and background checks.
• Assist in responding to HR policy questions and employee inquiries.
• Coordinate benefits programs and leaves of absence in compliance with laws.
