Job summary

GOEBEL FIXTURE COMPANY in Milpitas, CA, seeks a Human Resources Generalist to serve as the on-site HR presence for a two-shift manufacturing team. The role reports to the VP of Human Resources with a dotted-line to the local General Manager.

You will build culture, manage wage/hour compliance, payroll liaison, talent acquisition, onboarding, and data privacy. Regular floor presence and collaboration with supervisors are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in HR, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of independent work experience inmanufacturing with multi-shift workforce a plus.
  • Strong understanding of California labor laws or ability to learn CA wage/hour rules quickly.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS platforms; Kronos/UKG is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be a visible resource on the production floor to support safety and employee relations.
  • Drive employee engagement through culture, wellness initiatives and events.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on California wage/hour compliance and payroll liaison.
  • Audit time-collection systems and partner with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Partner to align staffing and onboarding.
  • Conduct on-site onboarding, ensure day-one paperwork and data privacy compliance.

The Human Resources Generalist is a dynamic, on-the-ground culture builder and operational anchor for our Milpitas, California manufacturing facility. Reporting to the VP of Human Resources with a strong operational dotted-line to local General Manager, this individual serves as the sole on-site HR presence for a growing, two-shift team operation.

2.0 Key Responsibilities & Areas of Impact
  • Be a Visible Resource : Maintain a consistent, welcoming presence on the Milpitas production floor across both shifts to build trust, promote safety, and resolve employee relations issues proactively.
  • Drive Employee Engagement: Act as the leader and creative spark for the local culture, wellness Initiatives, and community engagement events to bring our "world-class well-being" vision to life.
2.2 Wage & Hour Compliance & Payroll Support
  • Regulatory Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the facility’s primary authority on California Wage and Hour law. Ensure strict adherence to CA-specific compliance standards.
  • Labor Optimization & Payroll Bridge : Audit and maintain daily time-collection systems across both shifts. Partner with shift supervisors to resolve discrepancies and serve as the critical liaison to corporate headquarters for payroll processing, tax adjustments, and deductions.
2.3 Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Talent Acquisition: Collaborate closely with the Talent Acquisition Business Partner (TABP) to align open production and temporary staffing needs. Serve as the on-site execution partner by reviewing localized slates, scheduling interviews, and gathering feedback from hiring manager.
  • Onboarding : Conduct engaging, compliant on-site orientation. Ensure execution of day‑one paperwork, system setups and seamless handoffs.
  • Data Integrity: Securely maintain all local electronic applicants and employee records in accordance with data-privacy standards.
3.0 Position Requirements
3.1 Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5-7 years with a proven track record of operating independently within a defined framework. Experience in a manufacturing facility with a multi-shift workforce is a plus.
  • A strong fundamental understanding of California labor laws (or a rapid, demonstrated ability to learn and apply CA‑specific wage/hour and compliance rules) is essential.
  • High proficiency with modern Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and digital HRIS platforms. Experience with Kronos/UKG (KPay) platforms is a distinct advantage.

4.0 Working Conditions
  • Environment: Split between a climate-controlled office space and an active, fast-paced manufacturing production floor in Milpitas, CA.
  • Floor Presence: Regular presence on the production floor is mandatory. This role requires walking the floor, interacting with operators, and encountering standard manufacturing conditions (proper safety equipment is provided and its use is mandatory).
  • Shift Flexibility: While primarily a daytime role, occasional flexibility to adjust hours is required to connect with, support, and build relationships with the second-shift team.
5.0 FLSA Status
  • Exempt
  • Pay Transparency: In alignment with our commitment to transparency, the good faith expected salary range for this position is $95,000 – $120,000 per year. This range represents the amount we reasonably expect to pay at the time of hire; final offers are determined based on the successful candidate's specific experience, skills, and internal equity.
