Job summary

Washington County is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our collaborative HR team and support approximately 600 employees across county departments. The role focuses on benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, training, engagement, performance management, and HR compliance.

A strong foundation in benefits is especially important. You will oversee day-to-day benefits administration, coordinate wellness initiatives, support open enrollment activities, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of Human Resources experience.
• Experience administering employee benefit programs.
• Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit programs, enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA.
• Coordinate wellness initiatives and Wellness Fair activities.
• Partner with departments to recruit, hire, and onboard employees.
• Conduct New Hire Orientation and support employee engagement initiatives.
• Advise supervisors on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
• Assist with workplace investigations and HR compliance.
• Support employee and leadership training programs.
• Respond to employee questions about HR programs and procedures.
• Maintain accurate HR records and assist with compliance reporting.
