Job Description
The main function of a human resources generalist is perform administrative functions, such as employee leave management and executing the policy that corresponds with the leave requested. A typical human resources generalist is responsible for enhancing company productivity, increasing performance and improving business results.
Job Responsibilities
- Supporting employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering leave policies and helping resolve employee questions.
- Advise managers and HR on organizational policy matters as it pertains to US Leave administration.
- Support HR manager with gathering necessary documents and paperwork with regards to leave reports or requests
Skills
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
- Knowledge of legal statutory and federal policies and procedures related to leave management.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as MS Word and Excel.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required.
- 2-4 years customer service related experience required.
Additional Role Details
This role will support leave administration (FMLA/disability), will need to review role during strategy session.

Typical task breakdown
- Facilitate leave intake, assessing employee eligibility for applicable leaves and disability benefits.
- Manage leave of absence cases throughout the full claim lifecycle, from initiation through return-to-work.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company leave policies and regulations.
- Provide ongoing case management, including employee communication, medical documentation review, status updates, and return-to-work planning.
- Collaborate with HR, managers, and other stakeholders to support leave administration, return to works and workplace accommodation efforts.

- In office, five days a week.

- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required.

Top 3 Skills (Required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and applicable federal and state leave regulations, including experience administering and managing complex leave programs.
- Proven experience in disability case management, with a strong understanding of ERISA requirements, employee benefit entitlements, and federal disability laws, ensuring accurate and compliant claim administration.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and health conditions, with the ability to analyze clinical information, evaluate eligibility, and make well-supported disability and leave claim determinations.
