Job DetailsJob Location: Youngstown Manufacturing Headquarters - Youngstown, OH 44515

Summary: The HR Generalist will manage the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. This role requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail in handling sensitive employee and payroll information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and ensure timely placement of qualified candidates.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and workplace issues.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture through engagement initiatives and conflict resolution.
HR Administration
  • Maintain and update accurate employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
  • Prepare HR reports, compliance documentation, and organizational charts as needed.
Payroll & Compensation Back up
  • Process bi-weekly payroll in collaboration with the Payroll Specialist.
  • Verify timesheets, attendance, and leave data for accuracy before payroll submission.
  • Handle payroll adjustments, deductions, and reimbursements.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Reconcile payroll discrepancies and maintain confidentiality of employee pay data.
  • Generate and distribute pay statements and year-end tax documents (W-2, 1099, etc.).
  • Assist with salary reviews and compensation benchmarking.
Administration of Benefits Back up
  • Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, retirement, etc.) in collaboration with the Payroll Specialist.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve benefit-related issues.
Training & Development
  • Support the creation and delivery of employee training and development programs.
  • Track and document training completion and performance evaluations.
Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, employment standards, and internal HR policies. Update company policies as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of legal requirements and best practices in HR and payroll management.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of HR experience, with at least 1 year of direct payroll processing experience (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday, Paylocity, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and confidentiality practices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State (IN, OH) employment and labor laws and regulations
  • Maintaining current knowledge of HR best practices
  • Proficient with MS Office Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
