Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations for a nonprofit in Downtown Los Angeles. Location: Skid Row, CA.

This contract-to-hire role covers onboarding, recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, HR compliance, and HRIS management. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of HR generalist experience, knowledge of California employment laws, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
• Strong knowledge of onboarding, recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance.
• Experience with HRIS systems such as Paycom, ADP, Paylocity, UKG, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Previous nonprofit or social services experience is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientations and employee documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
• Support recruitment efforts by posting jobs, coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates.
• Assist with benefits administration, leave tracking, and employee inquiries.
• Process employee status changes, terminations, and other HR transactions.
• Support payroll by ensuring employee data and documentation are accurate and up to date.
• Assist with employee relations matters and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Prepare reports, employment verifications, and other HR-related correspondence.
• Participate in HR projects, training initiatives, and process improvements.
