We are a well-established and respected General Contracting Company seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist to support our growing workforce in Escondido, California. The ideal candidate is a proactive human resources professional with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills who can effectively manage a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. We are looking for a solutions-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains confidentiality, builds positive relationships across all levels of the organization, and demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting employees and company objectives. This role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to provide consistent HR support while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist plays a key role in the HR department, supporting employees and managers across multiple states. This position oversees recruiting, workers’ compensation claim management, onboarding, and offboarding, while ensuring compliance with employment laws and safety regulations diverse jurisdictions. This role contributes to building a strong workplace culture across job sites and the office, supporting both field crews and administrative staff in a dynamic, multi‑state environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support full-cycle recruitment for field and office positions, including job postings, candidate sourcing, and interviews.
  • Support of hiring managers by assisting with staffing needs and development of recruitment strategies.
  • Maintain applicant tracking systems and ensure positive candidate experience.
  • Support workforce planning to meet project timelines and labor demands.
  • Coordinating and supporting the new hire orientations and onboarding processes.
  • Ensure smooth integration of employees into their teams and company culture.
  • Manage offboarding processes such as exit interviews, final pay, and return of company property.
  • Providing support with offboarding processes, including exit interviews and compliance with separation requirements.
  • Provide insights from exit interviews to improve retention and workforce stability.
  • Assisting with handling and processing employee workers’ compensation and insurance claims efficiently and accurately.
  • Liaising with insurance providers to resolve issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date records of all claims and related documentation.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular HR audits to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies across multiple states.
  • Managing employee records and ensuring data accuracy in HR systems.
  • Reporting audit findings and workforce trends to the HR Director.
  • Coordinating training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Supporting payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Staying current with HR best practices, employment law changes, and industry standards.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in construction or a related industry.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, workers’ compensation regulations, and HR best practices.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
