Job summary

The City of Long Beach is seeking a Human Resources Officer to oversee the Equal Employment Opportunity Program Plan, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city laws. You will advise departments, investigate discrimination concerns, and lead training initiatives while supervising staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills to promote fairness and equity across all city departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• At least 3 years of professional HR experience; at least 1 year in a supervisory/lead role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program Plan.
• Plan, develop, and manage the City's EEO program to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Provide guidance to departments on discrimination, harassment, and ADA compliance.
• Investigate discrimination complaints and oversee investigations (staff and contractors).
• Facilitate training programs on EEO topics for employees at all levels.
• Supervise a team and manage competing deadlines; liaise with external regulatory agencies.
