Job summary

Michigan State University is seeking an experienced HR data and systems professional to serve as an advanced functional and technical resource for Time Management and Payroll within HRIT.

This role partners with Payroll, HR, vendors, and campus stakeholders to analyze complex business requirements, design sustainable system solutions, and ensure accuracy of payroll data while maintaining operational reliability.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Human Resources or related field; 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise HR/ERP systems.
• Experience analyzing complex business processes and translating requirements into functional system solutions.
• Experience coordinating functional testing, issue resolution, implementations, upgrades, or project workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an advanced functional analyst supporting SAP HCM Time Management and Payroll processes, data, workflows, interfaces, and related applications.
• Lead requirements gathering, business analysis, solution design, and implementation activities for enhancements, reports, interfaces, workflows, and system improvements.
• Translate complex business requirements into functional design specifications and collaborate with technical teams to deliver effective solutions.
• Coordinate and execute end-to-end testing activities across multiple testing environments to validate functionality, integration, and outcomes.
• Escalate and resolve payroll, time management, workflow, reporting, security, and system-related issues affecting HR/Payroll operations.
• Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and third-party providers to manage integrations and resolve system issues.
