Job summary

Specialty Building Products is seeking an HR Data Analyst to maintain accurate HR data, generate reports, and build dashboards to inform workforce decisions. This role collaborates with HR, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Sales, and other stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have strong Excel, experience with UKG/Cognos BI, and working knowledge of SQL, plus keen attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with HR, payroll, benefits, timekeeping, finance, operations, or other business data.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data cleanup, and reporting.
  • Experience with UKG and/or Cognos BI is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SQL is preferred; willingness and ability to learn SQL is valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify errors or trends, and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, validate, and distribute recurring and ad hoc HR reports for stakeholders across the company.
  • Support reporting related to headcount, turnover, recruiting, compensation, benefits, payroll, timekeeping, compliance, and other HR and business metrics.
  • Use UKG and Cognos BI to extract, organize, analyze, and present HR data.
  • Build and improve Excel-based reports, trackers, templates, and data-validation processes.
  • Partner with Finance and other cross-functional stakeholders to define reporting needs and develop shared dashboards and workforce reporting.
  • Review HR data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy; identify discrepancies and coordinate corrections with the appropriate teams.
  • Assist with data audits, compliance reporting, and data-cleanup initiatives.
  • Support HR technology projects, including reporting enhancements, system updates, testing, validation, and new-feature rollouts.
  • Create and maintain reporting documentation, standard operating procedures, metric definitions, and user guidance as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, reduce manual work, and improve data accessibility and system utilization.
  • Analyze workforce trends and proactively provide insights related to turnover, retention, staffing levels, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop and monitor key HR and workforce KPIs; identify trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate recommendations to HR leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Protect confidential employee, payroll, benefits, and organizational information; exercise sound judgment, integrity, and discretion at all times.
  • Respond to reporting requests with accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication.
