The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in HR/payroll, leaves lifecycle experience, HRIS/Paycom familiarity, strong Excel skills, and the ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of HR and/or payroll experience
  • Payroll processing or payroll administration experience required
  • Experience with full life cycle of leave administration required
  • Multi-state experience preferred
  • Experience with an HRIS/payroll system; Paycom experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and Google Workspace
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer the full life cycle of employee leaves, including documentation and return-to-work
  • Administer multi-state leave programs (e.g., FMLA, Workers' Comp, ADA, STD, LTD)
  • Administer insurance licensing and compliance, including applications and renewals
  • Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing and payroll audits
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and assist with discrepancies
  • Support employment compliance processes (I-9/E-Verify, audits)
  • Maintain confidential employee records
  • Assist with benefits administration and payroll-related changes
  • Support special HR projects as needed

HR Compliance & Payroll SpecialistAbout the PositionThe HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist supports key HR functions with a focus on leave administration, insurance licensing, employment compliance, and payroll support. This role will also serve as a strong backup to the Payroll function, helping ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAdminister the full life cycle of employee leaves, including leave documentation, documentation review, case tracking, HRIS updates, carrier coordination, and return-to-work processes.Administer multi-state employee leave programs, including Workers' Compensation, FMLA, ADA, STD, and LTDAdminister insurance licensing and compliance, including applications, renewals, audits, and maintaining accurate recordsProvide backup support for weekly payroll processing, including reviewing payroll information for accuracy and assisting with payroll audits and reconciliationsReview and maintain payroll-related information, including timekeeping, PTO, bonuses, deductions, benefits, and employee changes.Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions.Support employment compliance processes, including I-9/E-Verify, audits, EAD tracking, and related documentationSupport benefits administration and ensure employee changes are accurately reflected in payrollMaintain accurate and confidential employee recordsAssist with employee communications and engagement initiativesSupport special projects and other HR initiatives as neededPosition Requirements1–3 years of HR and/or payroll experiencePayroll processing or payroll administration experience requiredExperience with full life cycle of leave administration requiredMulti-state experience preferredExperience with an HRIS/payroll system; Paycom experience preferredStrong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and Google WorkspaceHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlinesAbility to handle confidential information with discretionStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBachelor's degree preferredWork Environment & Physical DemandsFull-time positionHours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PMIn-office or hybridNormal office environmentMust be able to sit for extended periodsMust be able to type, use a computer, answer the telephone, and perform routine filingAbout A-MAX Insurance:A-MAX is an industry leader that specializes in providing low-cost insurance to thousands of customers and businesses.
