Overview
The HPC Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software for high performance computing (HPC) systems based upon documented requirements.
Responsibilities
- System architecture and design
- System scanning, audit, detection, and prevention
- High‑performance computing (HPC) engineering and/or systems
- Cloud engineering and/or systems
- Container security
- Container orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes, RKE2
- DevSecOps practices
- Reviews and tests software components for adherence to design requirements and documents test results
- Resolves software problem reports
- Utilizes appropriate software development and design methodologies for the environment
- Provides input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, use of Open Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf (COTS)/Government Off‑The‑Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis from system level to individual components
- Works with Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation
Requirements
- Active and current TS.SCI with FSP through MD
- Strong math or computer hardware background to understand HPC architecture and the complex mathematical principles underlying the software applications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline plus seven (7) years of experience as an HSE in similar programs and contracts
- Master’s degree in the same field plus five (5) years of experience as an HSE in similar programs and contracts
- Or nine (9) years of experience as an HSE in similar programs and contracts

Pay Range
Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $225,000–$255,000.
