Job summary

Atrium Health HPB Surgery Cabarrus is seeking a detail-oriented patient access teammate to support the Liver and Pancreatic Surgery program. The role focuses on referrals, insurance authorization, and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure timely access to care.

The position emphasizes strong organizational and communication skills, with a 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, in a full-time clinic setting, helping patients navigate complex insurance and authorization processes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong computer, communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and authorization processes helpful.

Responsibilities

• Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
• May coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
• Obtains all authorizations needed for procedures and services.
• Directs patients to providers in their insurance plan.
• Reviews benefits and educates patient on insurance coverage.
• Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers.
• Reviews schedules and confirms accuracy of time allocations.
