Job summary

RiseBoro Community Partnership seeks a Mentor to provide supportive services to individuals and families in the NYC shelter ecosystem. The mentor will act as a Credible Messenger, guiding tenants toward completing service plans and building independent living skills.

The role emphasizes life skills assessments, one-on-one coaching, and collaboration withEducation Coordinator to connect tenants with resources.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Experience with community organizing and tenant organizing encouraged.
• Experience or training in peer support.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive services to individuals and/or families.
• Serve as Credible Messenger to encourage service plan goals.
• Conduct life skills and needs assessments for tenants.
• Provide 1-on-1 coaching to help tenants meet goals.
• Collaborate with staff to deliver recovery-oriented services.
• Document interactions in database and complete reports.
• Coordinate Tenant Advisory Group (TAG) and monthly meetings.
• Assist tenants in connecting to community resources.
