Job summary

Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist in Islip, NY. The role focuses on mentoring individuals in OMH programs to achieve independent living goals and stable housing, leveraging lived experience to support recovery and community integration.

Responsibilities include crisis support, case coordination, advocacy, and collaborating with treatment teams. The position requires NYS Peer Specialist Certification and a valid driver’s license for community

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• NYS Peer Specialist Certification required.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Willingness to work with individuals diagnosed with behavioral health symptoms.

Responsibilities

• Treat individuals with dignity and respect per NYS regulations and agency policy.
• Report violations promptly and submit incident reports as required.
• Provide supportive services: access to services, teach independent living skills, build tenant knowledge.
• Visit individuals monthly or more often as needed; support during crisis programs.
• Assist in goal development for independent living and community involvement.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and person-centered Support Plans.
• Maintain documentation and coordinate with landlords, treatment teams, and providers.
