Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis is seeking a Housing Advocate to provide a supportive environment while meeting client needs. The Advocate ensures the health and safety of clients and delivers high-quality care in a frontline setting.

Responsibilities include client intake, crisis response, coordination with community resources, and adherence to Harbor Light safety protocols. This is a full-time role with a stable schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and one-year front-facing experience.
• Understanding of delivery of social services and community services.
• Ability to accept supervision and work with colleagues.
• Respect confidentiality when working with diverse clients.
• Computer literate; ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Driver's License and must meet MVR qualifications.
• Must pass Salvation Army background checks.
• CPR/First Aid and Crisis Intervention training.
• Willing to support Salvation Army mission and values.
• Safe From Harm training within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster good relationships with staff and supervisors.
• Support the Mission by treating clients, donors, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
• Engage community members to participate in Corps programs and Pathway of Hope.
• Develop and maintain positive rapport with clients in housing program.
• Assist clients in following rules, provide accountability as needed.
• Monitor program areas including during meals and routine rounds.
• Provide information on available community resources and complete intake processes.
• Escape crises verbally and request Security assistance as needed.
• Follow Harbor Light Safety and Security Management Plan.
