Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light seeks a Housing Advocate to provide a supportive environment for clients and ensure health and safety within a shelter program. This regular, full-time position requires compassionate service and teamwork.

Responsibilities include client intake, resource navigation, crisis response, and collaboration with staff to maintain a respectful, secure environment. Training and adherence to safety protocols are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience in a forward-facing role, preferably in a shelter.
• Strong understanding of social services delivery and community services.
• Able to accept supervision and work well with colleagues.
• Respect confidentiality and operate within ethical and legal parameters.
• Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive rapport with clients and foster good relationships with staff and supervisors.
• Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating clients, donors, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
• Engage community members to encourage program participation and Pathway of Hope.
