Job summary

The City of Arvada is seeking a Housing Specialist to help individuals and families access safe, affordable housing. You will work with program participants, landlords, and community partners to support housing stability and program compliance.

Essential duties include researching HUD rules, conducting applicant interviews, re-certifications, and coordination with inspectors and landlords. A background in related fields and strong computer and communication skills are required, with a Total

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HUD rules and program changes.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong customer service skills in mediation and conflict resolution.
• Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in the function area.
• Ability to read and comprehend written communications and publications.
• Ability to research, interpret and evaluate data and federal regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.

Responsibilities

• Research HUD rules and regulations.
• Interview, screen, and document HCV applicants/participants.
• Perform annual re-certifications for participants.
• Educate applicants about HCV program responsibilities.
• Generate rent checks for landlords.
• Communicate with inspectors to ensure timely move-in and inspections.
