Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED:*
• Two years journeyman level experience in residential renovations, new construction, or inspection work**
• Two years (60 semester hours) in architecture, residential structural engineering, mechanical engineering, construction project management, or construction technology with four years practical experience
• Any combination totaling six years in construction training or hands-on experience
• Prior to appointment, education must be verified by the hiring agency
• Journeyman requires two years of formal or practical work under a master
• A qualifying written test and a rating of training and experience weighted 100%
• Applicants with current or inactive Louisiana State Contractor’s License or equivalent exempt from the written examination
