Job summary

The Housing Authority of New Orleans is seeking a Leasing Specialist in New Orleans, LA to deliver excellent service to residents and applicants while managing HUD/HCV leasing processes and related documentation.

Two years of college coursework and three years of public housing experience are required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. This full-time position offers a salary range of $36,400 to $44,500 annually.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework and three years of public housing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and Housing Choice Voucher Certification preferred.
• Ability to greet visitors and build rapport with residents.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a complete understanding of the leasing and admissions rules as determined in HUD regulations.
• Meets potential renters and guides them on tours of available units.
• Develops full knowledge of application information required, screening process and policies regarding HCV/Sec 8 and LIHTC.
• Interviews applicants regarding income and family composition to determine eligibility.
• Prepares leasing documents using HUD housing program regulations.
• Coordinates move-in dates, materials, and processes.
• Responsible for maintaining property waitlist and filing documents per program requirements.
• Answers inquiries from applicants, residents and the general public.
