Job summary

Knik Tribe is seeking an Assistant Housing Director to support the Housing Department's operations, budgeting, and strategic planning. This role will lead staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with HUD, BIA, ICDBG, IHBG, and LIHTC programs.

The incumbent will oversee grant administration, prepare required reports, and manage development projects to improve housing services for tribal members, while maintaining cultural respect and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Housing Management, Community Development, or related field is required.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Tribal housing, affordable housing, property management, housing program administration, including leadership in program administration and staff supervision.
• Knowledge of NAHASDA, IHBG, ICDBG, LIHTC, HUD regulations, BIA programs, and related federal housing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Housing Director with daily operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and overall administration of the Housing Department.
• Provide leadership and supervision to Housing Department staff to meet goals and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Act as primary authority in the absence of the Housing Director, providing oversight and decision-making as needed.
• Coordinate and monitor federally funded housing programs and ensure compliance with all grant requirements and regulations.
• Prepare, review, and submit plans and reports (IHPs, APRs, environmental reviews, financial and programmatic reports).
• Manage grants, contracts, MOUs, and funding opportunities to support housing development and resident services.
• Oversee housing development, rehab, modernization, and capital improvement projects within budgets and schedules.
• Maintain records, ensure transparency, and support regulatory compliance across departments.
