Job summary

Lantern Community Services seeks a Housing Specialist to support clients in securing permanent housing and building self-sufficiency. You will work with shelter and case management staff to guide clients through housing searches, applications, and appointments.

The role requires experience with homelessness or vulnerable populations, strong communication skills, and comfort with evening/weekend shifts. A bilingual English/Spanish candidate is preferred, with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSE, or GED required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to housing application and placement.
• Experience with homeless or vulnerable populations.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to work evening and/or weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intake and assessment interviews for new clients.
• Ensure compliance with DHS timelines for permanent housing placement.
• Complete housing components of service and independent living plans.
• Assist with HRA-2010E applications and required documentation.
• Prepare housing reports and collect data for funders.
• Facilitate client workshops on housing processes and budgeting.
