Job summary

Bronx Family Network seeks a Housing Specialist to assist individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing in NYC. You will identify housing options, navigate applications, and coordinate with landlords, brokers, and community partners to prepare clients for independent living.

You will build strong relationships with housing providers, manage housing leads, and facilitate workshops while ensuring client dignity, confidentiality, and compliance with program goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in case management, assessment, and crisis intervention preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in housing advocacy and program navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify suitable housing options including NYCHA and Section 8.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landlords, brokers, and management companies.
  • Escort clients to view apartments and assist with lease negotiations.
  • Assess client housing needs and create individualized housing plans.
  • Assist clients with government housing programs, subsidies, and benefits.
  • Assist with housing applications and document gathering.
  • Facilitate housing workshops and provide apartment search strategies.
  • Maintain a database of housing resources and outreach to identify opportunities.
  • Represent the agency in housing coalitions and meetings.
