Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Outreach Navigator to perform housing-focused outreach across San Bernardino County. You will engage unhoused individuals, assess needs, and link them to housing, health, and support services to promote self-sufficiency.

You will work with other Salvation Army teams, maintain data for reporting, and support program operations. A valid California driver’s license, background check, CPR/First Aid are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of related work experience with individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Minimum one year of Case Management experience.
• Ability to drive and maintain a valid California Driver’s License (Class C).
• Pass a TSA Driving Test and maintain a clean MVR.
• Must pass a complete and satisfactory background check.
• Current CPR Certification and First Aid Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage persons without homes in the San Bernardino area to initiate contact, develop rapport and assess service needs.
• Evaluate immediate needs such as crisis intervention, medical attention, showers, clothing, food, emergency shelter.
• Evaluate for appropriate triage or linkage to housing, health and financial resources; refer to community partners.
• Collaborate with local outreach teams to schedule events for whole person care in the field.
• Maintain weekly contact with clients during assessment, linkage and housing readiness efforts.
• Provide transportation to support stabilization and keep vehicle logs up to date.
