Job summary

California State University seeks a Housing Coordinator for Project Rebound to support students facing housing insecurity. You will provide direct housing assistance, navigate rental programs, and connect students with campus and community resources.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field, plus two (2) years of recent related experience
  • A master's degree in a job-related field may substitute for one year of professional experience
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain by date of hire
  • General understanding of student essential needs issues (food and housing insecurity) and disability rights/accommodations in higher education
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to assess program effectiveness
  • Skilled in establishing partnerships with community organizations
  • Knowledge of local housing resources, tenant rights, and financial assistance programs
  • Proficiency in tracking student outcomes, preparing reports, and using case management software
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills; thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Must be willing to travel for occasional off-site training and to work occasional holidays / adjusted hours, including emergency callback

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one housing assistance and referrals to campus and community partners
  • Assist students applying for rental assistance programs, down-payment assistance, and eviction protection services
  • Conduct intake assessments to determine student needs and develop action plans for securing housing
  • Assist students in understanding lease agreements, tenant rights, and responsibilities
  • Coordinate emergency housing placements for students in crisis situations
  • Connect students to advocacy resources such as the Counseling Center, Campus Advocate, CARE Team, and Essential Needs
  • Provide ongoing case management and follow-up support to ensure students maintain stable housing
  • Determine eligibility for Project Rebound students to receive rental/mortgage assistance funding
  • Develop, coordinate, and host outreach events and educational workshops on housing stability and financial literacy
  • Assess outreach and workshop effectiveness using student feedback and data collection
  • Coordinate with campus departments to provide targeted outreach to marginalized/vulnerable student populations
  • Establish and maintain weekly partnerships with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for continuum of care
  • Participate in monthly CSU systemwide workgroup meetings and attend community/housing-related conferences
  • Track student housing outcomes and program metrics to assess service impact
  • Maintain detailed case notes and assist with grant/departmental reporting requirements
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports for leadership
