Job summary

Allegheny County DHS is seeking a Housing Specialist to supplement Office of Community Services’ programs, serving as the go-to source for affordable housing and homeless prevention for staff and participants.

The role includes housing search, landlord mediation, applications, referrals to eviction prevention resources, and linking to homeless services; the initial plan is to co-locate at various programs across the county.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's or Master's preferred.
• At least two years' field work in social services or housing.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal housing resources.
• Experience identifying and connecting eviction prevention resources.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Serve as information clearinghouse on housing resources.
• Provide direct assistance to households to resolve housing crises.
• Assist with housing applications and lease reviews.
• Advise on tenants' rights and responsibilities.
