Job summary

The Salvation Army Shelter in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Part-Time Shelter Associate to help run the facility and ensure resident safety. You will update admittance cards, input data, monitor daily activities and medications, and maintain logs.

You will also mediate conflicts and handle phones, filing, and general admin tasks. Eligible candidates need at least a one-year vocational/technical degree or equivalent experience, valid driver's license, and the ability to lift light objects.

Responsibilities

• Update resident admittance cards and tracking sheets.
• Input data into the computer system.
• Monitor residents' day-to-day activities including scheduling and medication.
• Maintain shelter logbook and document results as directed.
• Collect urinalysis and Breathalyzer test results.
• Mediate conflicts between residents.
• Answer phones, file, and label documents.
• Perform other duties as directed by Shelter Director.

Schedule/Hours: Part-TimeThis position is responsible for:Perform a wide variety of functions to ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of the shelter residents as well as the building.Key Responsibilities:Update resident's admittance cards and tracking sheets. Input data as necessary into the computer system.Monitor client's day-to-day activities including scheduling and inventorying passes, taking of prescribed medication, and resident's general whereabouts.Maintain shelter logbook through documentation, as directed by the Shelter Director. Collects male and female urinalysis. Documents urinalysis and Breathalyzers test results.Mediate conflicts between residents. Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, and labeling.Perform other duties as determined by the Shelter Director to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the shelter and in accordance with the Salvation Army's mission.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Work requires the ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
