Job summary

Town of Chapel Hill is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the Housing and Community Development Department. The role covers maintenance of public housing units, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliances, performed with safety and efficiency in mind.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NC Driver's License required.
• 2+ years in a related field or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Completes safety inspections and preventative maintenance of public housing units.
• Performs general maintenance including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliance repairs as permissible.
• Uses a work order system to track and prioritize maintenance requests and document completion.
• Provides notice to residents regarding upcoming work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
