Job summary

The Town of Chapel Hill is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the Housing and Community Development Department. Responsibilities include safety inspections, preventative maintenance of public housing, and repairs to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliances as permissible.

A new Town employee may earn a $1,500 sign-on bonus and must meet safety and attendance goals at each 6-month interval. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid NC Driver's License, and 2 years of

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to perform safety inspections and basic maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Completes safety inspections and preventative maintenance of public housing units.
• Performs maintenance of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliances as permissible.
• Uses a work order system to track and prioritize requests and document completion.
