Job summary

Bay Area Community Services in Alameda County seeks a Housing Locator to locate housing units, build landlord relationships, and advocate for clients under a Housing First model. You will market to landlords, educate tenants, track progress, and support retention across the landlord-BACS relationship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; 4 years of paid work experience in mental health/social services (1 year can be substituted). Degree preferred.
• One year experience placing people in market housing preferred.
• Two years housing/real estate/property management preferred and may substitute for one year of direct service.

Responsibilities

• Locates housing units for partners using an organized marketing strategy.
• Develops relationships with landlords and property managers; advocates and negotiates with landlords on behalf of clients.
• Provides tenant education and housing counseling.
• Tracks and reports on client progress and provides housing retention support through the landlord-BACS relationship.
• Transitions partners from BACS financial supports to public support; manages disputes and provides rehabilitative support.
