Job summary

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) seeks a Housing Locator within the Resident Services Department to coordinate housing placement for up to 20 homeless individuals and families referred by Montgomery County Continuum of Care or DHHS.

Responsibilities include locating affordable units, submitting rental applications, maintaining HMIS data, liaising with landlords, and arranging transport while guiding clients through the rental process and needed supports.

Qualifications

Two years' experience in housing, subsidized housing programs, or property management.
Experience with special subpopulations a plus (homeless, behavioral health, or disabilities).
High school or equivalent with at least 2 years of college or technical training.

Responsibilities

Identify housing opportunities within Montgomery County through interactions with local housing entities and databases.
Contact identified resources to meet clients' housing needs.
Arrange transportation or transport clients to available units as necessary.
Assist clients and manage paperwork related to the rental process including applications, security deposits, and landlord requirements.
Advocate for clients and mediate disputes between client and landlord.
Communicate regularly with clients via in-person meetings, phone, text, and email.
Submit progress reports to referring sources on housing placement.
Input information into HMIS and provide referrals for supports as needed.
