Job summary

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) in Silver Spring, MD, seeks a Full Time Professional to manage housing location for up to 20 homeless individuals or families referred by Montgomery County Continuum of Care or DHHS Services. This role emphasizes outreach, data entry, rental applications, and successful placement in affordable units.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in housing, subsidized housing, or property management.
• Experience with homeless, behavioral health, or disabilities populations is a plus.
• High school or equivalent and at least 2 years of additional college or technical training.
• Knowledge of program regulations and procedures; strong written and spoken communication.
• Ability to interact well with people of varied backgrounds; organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Identify housing opportunities in Montgomery County through partners and resources.
• Contact resources to meet housing needs of referred clients.
• Arrange transportation for clients during housing search.
• Assist clients with rental paperwork, including applications and deposits.
• Advocate for clients and mediate disputes with landlords.
• Communicate with clients via in-person meetings, phone, text and email.
• Provide progress reports to the referring source on housing placement.
• Explain information to clients and arrange deposits, moving needs, and referrals.
• Input data into HMIS and perform other duties as assigned.
