Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking an Independent Living Specialist - VUE Stabilization to provide comprehensive case management for chronically homeless individuals.

You will meet clients regularly in the field and office, assess barriers to housing, and help secure entitlements while developing individualized housing plans. The role emphasizes collaboration with clinical staff, CPR readiness, and coordinating interviews and housing appointments within the program continuum.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; bachelors degree preferred and masters ideal.
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills and computer proficiency required.
  • Experience working in residential treatment and with the MICA and homeless populations.
  • Knowledge of HRA and NY/NY application systems a plus.
  • CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to identified chronic homeless individuals.
  • Meet with clients regularly in the field and in the office; ensure clinical files and reports are complete and up to date.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify housing barriers; assist clients to overcome barriers and secure entitlements.
  • Develop and work with clients on individualized housing plans; build a network of support services.
  • Prepare clients for housing interviews and arrange housing appointments; participate in case conferences as necessary.
  • Liaise with clinical staff in other BRC programs and outside programs on common clients.
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR or overdose prevention protocol assistance when needed.
  • Related duties as assigned.
