St. Catherine's Center for Children in Albany, NY, is seeking an Employment & Stabilization Specialist to support families living in Marillac Shelter.

The role focuses on housing stability, income development, and benefits navigation, bridging case management and tenant stability advocacy. You will work with residents to identify housing options, assist with applications and documents, coach for employment readiness, and coordinate services through local partners to remove barriers to housing

Qualifications

• BSW or Bachelor's Degree in human service field.
• Associate's degree with five or more years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree.
• Knowledge of community resources is beneficial.
• Proficiency in computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and secure Internet practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct Housing Search & Navigation: identify, apply for, and partner with Case Management to secure affordable, permanent housing.
• Application Assistance: guide residents through credit checks, background checks, housing applications, and documentation.
• Landlord Advocacy: outreach to landlords and property managers to advocate for residents.
• Housing Tours: accompany residents to viewings and interviews when necessary.
• Coordinated Entry and SPOA: complete applications and referrals to housing providers.
• SSI/SSD Application Assistant: assist residents through initial applications and understand income impact on benefits.
• Employment Readiness: assist residents with job searches, resumes, and interview coaching.
• Curriculum Delivery: lead workshops using tenant education frameworks.
• Financial Literacy: teach budgeting and utility understanding.
• Tenant Rights: educate on leases and rights.
