Job summary

Community Development Long Island (CDLI) is seeking a Housing Specialist to join our Melville, NY office. The role ensures eligibility interviews, voucher issuance, lease-ups, and annual recertifications under program rules.

You will manage a caseload, verify income documentation, ensure accurate rent calculations, and travel weekly to Hempstead with mileage reimbursement. A High School diploma and 3 years in case management are required, with certification within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of case management or client services experience in human services, housing, or real estate.
• Must attain housing choice voucher certification within 6 months of employment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide an overview of the program to applicants.
• Ensure proposed rent aligns with market standards and oversee submission of tenancy forms for inspection.
• Oversee and maintain a designated caseload, collecting and reviewing family documentation and income details.
• Revise data as income or pertinent information changes.
• Verify data accuracy and compliance with program rules.
• Ensure accurate calculations for rent subsidies.
• Make recommendations for file terminations when needed.
