Job summary

The Hastings Housing Authority in Hastings, NE is seeking a Housing Choice Voucher Specialist to support the HCV program and manage day-to-day caseloads. You will perform recertifications, verifications, data entry, and liaison with landlords and clients to ensure HUD compliance.

Ideal candidates have strong time management, confidentiality, and familiarity with HAB, NFOCUS, and EIV, plus MS Office; bilingual ability (Spanish) is preferred and a Nebraska driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in low rent housing or related field or related undergraduate education.
• Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with tenants, landlords, vendors and the general public.
• General knowledge of the Landlord / Tenant state law, local housing codes, applicable HUD rules and Regulations and HCHA policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computer software systems used by HCHA.
• Ability to communicate and educate tenants and the general public about Housing Programs.
• Bi-Lingual (preferably Spanish)

Responsibilities

• Set up appointments with landlords and clients.
• Determine inspection needs and schedule inspections with the Inspector.
• Recertification appointments, verifications and data entry.
• Answer technical questions regarding the HCV Program.
• Work with the HCV Coordinator to maintain the HCV Waiting List.
• Send verifications, monitor their return and analyze their contents.
• Act on interim exam requests timely and accurately.
• Post checks, send out mailings and other clerical duties as assigned by the HCV Administrator.
• Perform day-to-day duties under the supervision of the Executive Director.
• Perform all duties as required to utilize all the budget authority in the Housing Choice Voucher programs following all federal, state and local rules as required by the program.
