Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
• Social work licensure in the appropriate jurisdiction.
• 3 years of experience working with incarcerated adults.
• Must be able to pass a background check to gain access to secured facilities.

Responsibilities

• Interview and assess the needs for direct services of Returning Citizens (post‑release) and individuals referred by jails or prisons including the DC Jail before discharge (pre‑release), primarily in the District of Columbia, who have mental health needs and/or a history of addictive behaviors.
• Meet with community partners, such as the Resources to Empower and Develop You (READY) Center, District of Columbia Department of Corrections (DCDOC), Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia (CSOSA), Office of Returning Citizens Affairs (ORCA) and other partners to identify areas for collaboration and develop plans for coordinating services.
• Ensure participants engage in group sessions that allow them to address and improve personal aspects of their lives such as financial literacy, employment readiness, identity development, relationships, family dynamics, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain complete and accurate case records to include entering data in the database within 48 hours of contact/service.
• Ensure appropriate match between volunteer mentors and interested clients through well‑defined recruitment, selection, and retention strategy.
• Foster collaborative relationships with organizations and service providers aimed at sharing resources that support men transitioning to the community.
• Collect and track data elements from each participant.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
