Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a Houseperson to keep guest areas and back-of-house spaces clean, organized, and stocked. You’ll support the housekeeping team, deliver supplies, and help guest inquiries, ensuring every room meets high standards and that public areas remain pristine throughout the day.

The role is physical, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. A competitive benefits package and room discounts accompany a 24.50 USD hourly wage in San Diego.

Responsibilities

• Ensure every room is prepared to the highest standard for guests.
• Support housekeeping by delivering linens, removing trash, and stocking supplies.
• Clean and maintain public areas including lobbies, hallways and restrooms.
• Inspect public areas for cleanliness and organization.
• Notify supervisor of progress or issues and assist with deep-clean projects.
• Minimize waste by monitoring and controlling supplies.
• Assist guests with requests and help locate facilities as needed.
• Reunite guests with lost items when possible.

Houseperson

The Houseperson plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hotel or facility. This position involves supporting the housekeeping staff by ensuring that all common areas and back-of-house spaces are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary supplies.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

• Making sure every single room is at its absolute best for our guests


• Helping our guests in any way you can – whether they’ve forgotten their toothbrush or just need to find the elevator


• Maintain cleanliness in all public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and recreational areas.


• Assist housekeeping staff with room cleaning by delivering clean linens, removing trash, and restocking supplies as needed.


• Perform regular inspections of public areas to ensure cleanliness and organization.


• Keeping your supervisor in the loop by advising them of any progress or problems


• Monitoring and controlling supplies to minimise waste


• Doing your best to reunite guests with any lost or misplaced items


• Regularly assisting with deep clean projects

What we need from you

• It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important


• Occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds / 23 kilograms and or push/pulling heavy objects


• You may need to bend and kneel to complete some activities


• Literacy skills - reading, writing and basic maths skills


• Flexible attitude to shifts – you may be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
