Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Houseperson to help keep our hotel’s public areas spotless and well-organized in San Diego, CA. You will support housekeeping by delivering supplies, restocking items, and assisting with room cleaning as needed.

This role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays. We provide a uniform, room discounts, and robust training as part of our benefits package.

Job description

The Houseperson plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hotel or facility. This position involves supporting the housekeeping staff by ensuring that all common areas and back-of-house spaces are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary supplies.

A little taste of your day-to-day

• Making sure every single room is at its absolute best for our guests
• Helping our guests in any way you can – whether they’ve forgotten their toothbrush or just need to find the elevator
• Maintain cleanliness in all public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and recreational areas.
• Assist housekeeping staff with room cleaning by delivering clean linens, removing trash, and restocking supplies as needed.
• Perform regular inspections of public areas to ensure cleanliness and organization.
• Keeping your supervisor in the loop by advising them of any progress or problems
• Monitoring and controlling supplies to minimise waste
• Doing your best to reunite guests with any lost or misplaced items
• Regularly assisting with deep clean projects

• It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important
• Occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds / 23 kilograms and or push/pulling heavy objects
• You may need to bend and kneel to complete some activities
• Literacy skills - reading, writing and basic maths skills
• Flexible attitude to shifts – you may be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays

The hourly pay rate for this role is $24.50. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k, and many other benefits to eligible employees.
