Job summary

Tandem Hospitality Group in Pensacola, FL is seeking a friendly Houseperson to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces while supporting laundry operations and guest requests.

You will sort, wash, dry, and distribute linens; operate laundry equipment; perform deep cleaning tasks; and ensure safety, privacy, and consistent quality across all hotel spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items according to established procedures.
  • Identify stained or damaged linens and determine whether items require spot treatment, rewashing, repair, or disposal.
  • Operate washers, dryers, ironing equipment, folding machines, and other laundry equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and recommended load capacities.
  • Inspect laundered items for cleanliness and quality before folding and placing them in designated storage areas or linen carts.
  • Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, filters, and drain traps after each load and maintain laundry equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of laundry production and report damaged linens, equipment concerns, or supply shortages to the supervisor.
  • Monitor and replenish laundry chemicals, linen inventory, and cleaning supplies while minimizing waste.
  • Clean and maintain hotel public areas, including the lobby, hallways, public restrooms, elevators, stairwells, meeting spaces, entrances, sidewalks, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform deep cleaning projects including carpet shampooing, window washing, light fixture cleaning, elevator track cleaning, and other scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of back‑of‑house areas, storage rooms, housekeeping closets, and service areas.
  • Deliver clean linens and housekeeping supplies to designated storage locations and guest rooms as needed.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests by delivering amenities such as irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, extra towels, pillows, blankets, and other requested items.
  • Follow proper procedures when entering occupied guest rooms and maintain guest privacy at all times.
  • Return lost and found items according to company procedures, documenting the date, location found, item description, and finder information.
  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner and provide prompt, courteous service.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members and other hotel departments.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and security protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and wear the required uniform at all times.
  • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, maintenance concerns, and equipment malfunctions to management immediately.
  • Complete all required safety training and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, laundry detergents, heat, and commercial equipment while following all safety procedures.
  • Ability to reach overhead, maneuver housekeeping carts, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments as needed.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including an entire work shift.
