Job summary

Suffolk OTB is seeking a housekeeping supervisor to inspect guest and employee areas, supervise room attendants, and ensure adherence to cleanliness, safety, and security standards. You will coordinate with Front Office, manage supplies, and lead staff to maintain high guest satisfaction.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong communication, and the ability to train others in a fast-paced hospitality environment; NY Gaming License is required. Weekends and varied shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 3–5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain a high energy level in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Effective communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or associates.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic math skills; ability to accurately handle cash and process sales transactions.
• Must be able to obtain a New York State Gaming License.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the performance of room attendants and general cleaning and take appropriate action to correct deficient conditions, behavior, and work practices.
• Inspect guest rooms, guest areas and employee areas and assess compliance with cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security standards; report deviations as directed.
• Review and adjust staffing daily to ensure optimum staffing levels; review assignments and make adjustments.
• Communicate with Front Office and other departments to ensure total guest satisfaction.
• Monitor consumption and order replacement of guest and cleaning supplies.
• Manage administrative functions in accordance with established standards.
• Must role model company guest service program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Inspect assigned areas in order to provide feedback to management and employees on the cleanliness and maintenance of those areas against standards. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

• Monitor consumption and order replacement of guest and cleaning supplies.
• Manage administrative functions in accordance with established standards.

OTHER

• Frequent walking and standing for entire length of shift.
• Frequent climbing of stairs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and carrying.
• Use of hands to operate cleaning equipment and complete scrubbing/washing duties.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Visual acuity sufficient to inspect cleanliness of rooms and surfaces.
• Weekends, Holidays and swing shift work may be required.
