Job description

The Housekeeping Supervisor directly supervises and coordinates work activities of the Housekeeping staff in a hotel setting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities :

1. Resolve guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
2. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
3. Maintain complete knowledge of: verify room status on the A.M. report, report discrepant rooms, prioritize and update the status of check-out rooms.
4. Ensure that assigned staff report to work; document any late arrivals or absences.
5. Coordinate breaks for staff, prepare and distribute assignment sheets, and review priorities.
6. Assign guest room keys and beepers to staff, maintaining accurate records and ensuring security.
7. Communicate any additions or changes to assignment sheets during shifts.
8. Inspect supply levels in floor closets and assign personnel to address deficiencies.
9. Check Room Attendant's carts for supplies, neatness, and mechanical issues.
10. Inspect rooms cleaned by Room Attendants using designated checklists and relay deficiencies for correction.
11. Update room status post-cleaning in accordance with standards.
12. Verify and update the status of vacant and DND rooms throughout the shift.
13. Mark and follow up on dirty sheets in assigned rooms to ensure linen change.
14. Counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies and inspect public areas for cleanliness and condition.
15. Report deficiencies to relevant personnel and complete work orders for repairs.
16. Coordinate with Engineering for urgent repairs.
17. Conduct staff training and provide performance feedback to management.
18. Report disciplinary issues and participate in employee counseling.
19. Complete all paperwork and closing duties before shift end, review assignments and follow-up with the manager or next shift supervisor.
20. Verify accuracy of P.M. reports and complete night counts as per standards.

Education and Experience :

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six months to one year of related supervisory experience.
