Job summary

The Virginia Beach Field House is hiring housekeeping staff to perform a range of cleaning activities. Candidates will ensure rooms are maintained to standards and handle other various cleaning tasks, including sanitizing bathrooms and stocking supplies.

No prior experience is necessary, but candidates should have basic reading and writing skills, mathematical abilities, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job description

The Virginia Beach Field House is currently looking for housekeeping staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing
• Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
• Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies
• Notify superiors on any damages, deficits and disturbances
• Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
• Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate
• Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices
• Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, showers, countertops, and sinks
• Washing windows
• Sorting, washing, loading, and unloading laundry
• Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies
• Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces
• Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste
• Reporting any necessary repairs or replacements

Requirements

• Education and/or Experience: No prior experience or training.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Upon hire and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize the facility Member/Guest registration software and Timeclock software.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• This position will require extended time on your feet (walking and standing).
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
• The employee must be able to lift items that are 10lbs, occasionally 25lbs, and rarely 50lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Work will be done indoors with occasional use of step stools and small ladders (under 6’)
• Will regularly work with general cleaners. Normal Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, safety glasses, apron) will be provided.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
