Job Summary:

Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties to ensure program standards are met. Regularly performs the full range of housekeeping services similar to a Housekeeping Attendant, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior spaces, etc. These services include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, debris removal, trash collection, linen and towel transport, etc. Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Oversees and communicates instructions received from supervisors or managers to Housekeeping Attendants.
2. Assists in training new staff, answers questions on policies, procedures, and directives.
3. Ensures work schedules are followed, keeps supervisors informed of work status and issues.
4. Trains staff on proper work methods, implements efficient cleaning practices.
5. Maintains inventory of cleaning materials and linens.
6. Performs cleaning tasks alongside staff, ensuring quality and efficiency.
7. Maintains records of work performed, room occupancy, and guest check-in/out dates.
8. Ensures guest privacy and security at all times.
9. Manages storeroom security, orders supplies, and ensures availability of necessary materials.
10. Ensures equipment is maintained and stored properly.
11. Handles guest and staff suggestions or complaints tactfully, escalating issues as needed.
12. Performs the full scope of housekeeping services regularly.
13. May assist with breakfast setup, replenishment, and cleanup, obtaining necessary food handling certifications.
14. Maintains a safe environment, following safety protocols and blood-borne pathogen measures.
15. Performs laundry operations and inspects laundry facilities.
16. Possesses a valid driver’s license for travel between facilities as required.
17. May be called upon to operate during emergencies or inclement weather.
18. May need to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

No prior experience required. Preference given to high school graduates or equivalent, with at least 6 months of housekeeping experience, leadership, or training experience.
