Job Title: Laundry Attendant

This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms, patient areas, and hallways. Key responsibilities include sorting dirty laundry, operating washing machines and dryers, and folding linens.

Reports To:

Laundry Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Ability to read Standard English
• Ability to operate standard and commercial laundry machinery
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Effective interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with patients, families, staff, and visitors

Physical Demands:

• Stand for 7-8 hours daily
• Stoop, kneel, bend, climb as needed
• Lift 20-25 pounds frequently
• Lift 50-75 pounds occasionally
• Move heavy furniture (75-100 pounds) as required
• Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals safely
• Pull and push wet laundry weighing 50-75 pounds

Responsibilities:

• Gather dirty laundry at scheduled times
• Load washers and prepare linens for daily use
• Separate clean and dirty linens
• Ensure water temperature is at least 150°F
• Maintain cleanliness of lint traps, floors, walls, and equipment
• Operate laundry machines per manufacturer and center policies
• Fold and store dry laundry properly
• Report equipment issues promptly
• Shut down laundry equipment during fire alarms
• Follow all safety protocols when handling chemicals
• Clean patient bathrooms and rooms thoroughly
• Empty garbage cans regularly
• Maintain cleanliness of hallways and other areas
• Adhere to cleaning schedules and protocols
• Perform additional duties as assigned
