POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities within the Environmental Services Department, adhering to federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. They work under the direction of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work and cleaning schedules diligently.
2. Report all accidents or incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
4. Attend annual OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training.
5. Maintain adequate supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
6. Report malfunctioning lighting fixtures promptly.
7. Assist in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
8. Clean and store equipment and supplies properly after use.
9. Perform daily environmental cleaning tasks as assigned, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting.
10. Sanitize bathroom fixtures, clean windows and mirrors, and ensure water marks are removed.
11. Clean floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings using appropriate methods and safety precautions.
12. Dispose of waste and infectious materials properly.
13. Clean vacant rooms and perform infection control procedures as required.
14. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is properly stored at all times.
15. Refrain from assisting residents with activities of daily living or skilled needs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
