POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations, under the supervision of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor. The goal is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the facility.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and training programs.
4. Attend annual OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training.
5. Maintain supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
6. Report burned out lights and other maintenance issues promptly.
7. Assist with lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
8. Clean and sanitize equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and surfaces daily.
9. Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, shampooing, and disinfecting floors and carpets.
10. Discard waste properly, including infectious waste.
11. Clean vacant rooms and perform isolation cleaning procedures as per infection control protocols.
12. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly.
13. Note: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) is not part of this role.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and lifting at least 50 lbs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
