POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations. They work under the guidance of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable facility.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules diligently.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and training programs, including OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens.
4. Maintain supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
5. Report any burned out lights or malfunctioning fixtures promptly.
6. Assist in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
7. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and supplies at the end of shifts.
8. Perform daily cleaning tasks such as emptying trash, cleaning fixtures, windows, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings.
9. Follow proper procedures for waste disposal, including infectious waste.
10. Perform isolation cleaning procedures per infection control protocols.
11. Avoid assisting residents with activities of daily living or skilled needs.
12. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is properly stored.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
