Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Housekeeping Equipment Repair Technician to maintain and repair campus housekeeping gear. The role operates Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.

to 3:00 p.m., with seasonal adjustments and occasional overtime or weekend hours. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and training staff on new equipment, while overseeing vendor repairs and maintaining an equipment inventory.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning equipment repair and maintenance.
• Understanding of parts used for housekeeping equipment repair.
• Familiarity with housekeeping chemicals and safety.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments and schedules.
• Ability to work with others and independently.
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Ability to use a Multi-meter.
• Must be at least 19 years old with a valid 24+ month driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair housekeeping equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Repair/install bathroom dispensers per specs and ADA requirements.
• Oversee repairs by vendors as needed.
• Inspect, assemble, deliver, and train staff on new equipment.
• Maintain an electronic inventory of equipment and parts.
• Work during periods of authorized closings as required.
