Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is seeking a Housekeeper Relief to join the team at Colchester Hospital. You’ll maintain high cleanliness standards across wards, support meal services, and help create a safe, welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors.

You’ll follow infection prevention protocols, handle stock and waste with care, and work with the healthcare team to ensure smooth daily operations. NHS experience is desirable; flexible weekend rotas may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of cleaning and housekeeping across wards and communal spaces.
• Support meal services in line with Food Hygiene Regulations and healthcare standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures including PPE and cleaning equipment.
• Replenish essential supplies throughout the hospital.
• Collect and manage waste safely according to healthcare waste procedures.
• Assist with stock control and keep cleaning cupboards organised.
• Report maintenance issues and health and safety concerns promptly.
• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism with patients, families and colleagues.
• Support day-to-day hospital operations through teamwork and excellent service delivery.

• Assist with stock control and ensure cleaning cupboards remain organised and fully stocked.
• Report maintenance issues, faults, and health and safety concerns promptly.
• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital environment through teamwork, flexibility, and excellent service delivery.

What You'll Bring:
